For Livi Howard, high school sucked. Orchestra Geek, Choir Monkey, The Ginger … and the labels didn’t end there. But high school is behind her now, and fabulous university life is ahead. Let Project ‘Ditch the Nerd’ begin!

Adam Anderson is a nerd and proud of it. His university plans include computer studies, Xbox marathons, and reruns of his favourite sci-fi TV shows. Watching his best friend Livi transform herself into a person he barely recognises was never on the list.

With Project ‘Ditch the Nerd’ a success, Livi thinks she finally has it all—except for the part where she’s growing further and further away from Adam. When a party goes south, Livi is forced to reconsider the lengths she’ll go to be accepted by the ‘right’ people. How far is too far? And will she ever be able to find her way back to herself—and to the guy who’s been in front of her all along?

The Trouble with Flirting is a cute, clean, upper YA contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone novel.

The Trouble with Flirting Trouble Series Book 2 eBook Rochelle Morgan

This is the second book in the Trouble series, but it can be read as a standalone even though it contains some minor spoilers if you haven't read the previous book.

I started off with Rachel Morgan’s fantasy series (Creepy Hollow), fell in love with her writing and creative mind and decided to try out her romance novels. I wasn’t disappointed! And I must confess The Trouble with Flirting is my favourite of this series. A swoon-worthy contemporary
romance with many comical and cheerful moments.

The main character can come across as a bit shallow, but it fits well with the story line of redefining oneself and the road to personal discovery and happiness. There were some really funny situations and the innocence of a first love was beautifully captured (and adorable).

The Trouble with Flirting Trouble Series Book 2 eBook Rochelle Morgan Reviews

In this book we get Livi's story, taking place after the first book in the series. This is definitely a coming of age book.

Livi is bound and determined to make her college years better than high school. She was to ditch the "geeky" image she had in high school and swap it for a "cool" image. Getting to the "cool" image means making new friends, wearing the "right" clothes, and going out with the good-looking guys. It also means changing who she really is; the violin hides under the bed, her dvd collections also hide, and her Harry Potter cushion get smooshed into the closet.

She starts making new friends and things seem to be going great. She's dating a good looking guy that seems to like her, she's redone her wardrobe, and her new friends bring her to popular places to hang out.

Her best friend, Adam, doesn't like this new Livi. Livi doesn't hang out with him much anymore and she's become someone he doesn't really know anymore.

What Livi keeps forgetting is that she has wonderful people already in her life and keeps taking them for granted.

Then one night everything changes (a few things, actually) and Livi has some major thinking to do. Who does she really want to be?

This story was entertaining, though I did get a bit annoyed with Livi at some times. What seemed so obvious to me seemed so hard for her, but perhaps that's what the author wanted.

I did enjoy the ending!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
While this was a great addition to the Trouble Series, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first one, The Trouble with Flying. The reason for this was the main character Livi. I did like her character, but for a good majority of the book, I was extremely frustrated with her (much like her friend Adam). I think that was the idea, but still it made me go down a star. I kept hoping that she would realize how superficial and stupid she was being, but it didn't happen until a little more than halfway through the book. That being said though, once she realized her behavior due to an unfortunate incident at a party with her so-called "friends" and boyfriend, her character as a whole was much more tolerable. In fact, I liked her a great deal when she was "herself" again.

With the exception of Livi's character at the beginning, everything else in this novel was pure genius. Adam was an awesome character that I absolutely adored. He provided humor and hilarious moments to the novel, and he is totally a new book boyfriend. He was well written, and perfect for Livi. The one thing I appreciated with his character was that he stood up to living and didn't take any of her crap. He told it like it was, and honesty is always the best policy. The setting was well described, and I would love to visit South Africa someday. The story was well paced and flowed seamlessly.

The Trouble with Flirting is a clean, sweet romance that I highly recommend checking out. If you are looking for a lighthearted story, this novel is for you! While not as good as the first in my opinion, it is still a wonderful sequel to The Trouble with Flying. Add this to your TBR pile now!

Happy reading )
Any book that is described as "Light-hearted contemporary romance that does not contain explicit language or sex" is a book designed for me to love. And, this description did NOT let me down. As in the description, there are some mild spoilers to the previous books, so read The Trouble with Flying first. It isn't a chore, believe me.

The thing that stuck with me after reading this book is that we often see other people's life from the outside in, and their lives look GREAT - sometimes making our own lives feel not so great. This book explores the opportunity Livi has to live the other side, and how she discovers how the grass isn't always greener. It is a story about growing up, and not just a story focused on who she ends up with.

This author writes with great humor, and very realistic human interactions. I love her books, and think everyone should read all of them. There are moments of great fun, and some swoon-worthy moments that are worth waiting for. And its CLEAN!!
3.5 stars!
I happened to get the first and fourth books in this series for free, and loved them so much, I came back for more! I didn't love this one quite as much.
But I only really have one complaint--that the main character didn't start to love the hero until probably the 70-80% mark. The plot started to feel directionless a couple times, and I was impatient!
The writing was great; the characters were likable and relatable; the pacing was good, even without the romance happening as quickly as I wanted. I'd still totally recommended it, and the series in general! (So far, the fourth is my favorite, but I think I'll still buy the third.)
